No One Should Have to Decide Between Their Safety and Their Pets
Hoppy, Healthy & Safe is a registered 501(c)3 that was started in 2024 with the mission to help maintain the human-pet bond. Our goal is to assist individuals in crisis- whether that be leaving a dangerous situation, a natural disaster, medical needs, or an unexpected change in living situation- be able to maintain their relationship with their pet.
Hoppy, Healthy & Safe Surrenders
In 2025 the Board saw a need in our community for a safe space for surrenders of exotic pets- whether this be for owner death, terminal illness or other life events. With this in mind we started Hoppy, Healthy & Safe Surrenders.
Why the name Hoppy, Healthy & Safe?
Along with a background in animal rescue, our founder has a long history in the child welfare world- primarily with the CASA program. One of the phrases she often said to parents of the kids she worked with was that her goal was to make sure the kids were happy, healthy & safe. Our goal with Hoppy, Healthy & Safe is to do the same for the animals in our care.
The Hearts Behind the Heart
Meet the dedicated Board of Directors who provide a compassionate safety net for Indiana's rescue animals. Each individual brings unique expertise and a shared love for exotic companions.
Kelsey Antrim
Founder & President
Over 10 years in the social work and animal welfare realm has taught me this. No one should have to make the heartbreaking decision to surrender their pet in order to get help for themselves - this is the heart of HH&S.
Dee Vester
Vice President
With a lifelong heart for healing, Dee has always been drawn to those in need. That compassion continues to be her driving factor that that these pets can flourish and thrive as there are a finite number of resources geared to assist exotic pet owners.
Rebecca Orr
Treasurer
Rebecca believes that it's not just wild lives that matter. Her love for exotics, and the overlap of exotics and wildlife rescue, brought her to HH&S.
Gerri Koehler
Secretary
With a special love for species that are often misunderstood or overlooked, Gerri helps guide the rescues efforts and enjoys bringing awareness for the rescue at events.
Megan Bolt
Board At Large
Megan believes that when people face a crisis, they shouldn't have to choose between getting help and keeping the pets they love. Knowing that exotic pets have a safe, caring place to stay while their owners find stability is incredibly meaningful.
Megan Wills
Board At Large
After years of working with families constantly in transition, Megan saw how much their animals meant to them and how hard it was to make decisions while struggling to decide what to do with their animals.
